Dollar Slot Machine Part 2

After he had gone, Sara stared at the man, waiting for him to speak.  He shuffled a few papers around his desk then looked up at her.  

"You really don't know?" he asked.  

"I've already told you I don't!" she retorted,

"But I'm assuming it's a tidy sum, from the reaction it got."  

"Well, Sara, if you consider $8.75 million dollars a 'tidy sum', then I suppose it is."

"Eight and three-quarters of a million dollars?" She felt faint.  

"That's right.  And we have some paperwork to get through before I can allow you to leave.  Do you have an attorney?"  

"No, of course not.  I've never needed one before."  

"Well, I can recommend a good one for you, if you like.  We have him on a retainer for the casino."  

She agreed to speak with the lawyer, and he picked up the telephone, called and asked the attorney to be in his office momentarily.

Three exhausting hours later Sara was ready to leave.  Mr. Bailey, the casino manager, escorted her to the door.  

"Thank you for being so co-operative, Sara.  Please come back again soon."  

With that, Sara walked back out onto the casino floor where she had been such a short time ago, but now it seemed to her that it was in another lifetime.  It was slowly occurring to her that her entire life would be changed now, and she wasn't sure she wanted it to.  As she pushed open the heavy glass outer doors, the hot, sultry Nevada night air hit her like a brick.  She walked alone to her rusty little blue Ford Tempo, fumbling for her keys as she went.  As she was fitting the key into the lock, her world exploded in a shower of lights and pain, then everything went black.

Her head was pounding and her mouth was dry.  She slowly opened her eyes, willing them to focus.  Then she began to remember the last little while before she blacked out.  She peered around her at the strange surroundings.  She had no idea where she was, but it was a clean, well-appointed bedroom.  The door was open but she heard no sound.
