Hitting the Big Nickel Slot Jackpot!

It was my first time at the River Rock Bend casino. I had attempted to go several times before, but something always got in the way. Like the time my twelve-year old brother had the flu and my mother asked me to come to her home and sit with him. It felt like old times, being stuck at home on a Friday night.

The only difference now is that I am a twenty-two year old man who had already made plans to go and play slots. There was another time where I was actually almost in the casino and I tripped at the curb (yes the curb on the casino grounds).

I'm ashamed to admit that I fractured my ankle and had to go to the emergency room. You will never get me to tell you what happened involving a ceiling fan on another occasion when I attempted to go. It just seemed as if this struggling college student was destined to never see what it was like on the inside of the casino. And, now here I was I had finally arrived.

The excitement was oozing all over the place. Bells were ringing, people were screaming. Some of them were screaming for large jackpots, some were screaming because they won a dollar or two. The atmosphere had me totally optimistic. All I needed to do was find the right machine. I walked around for about fifteen minutes, and then I saw it. Blue is my favorite color. I found a machine where one of the graphic items, which paid out ten times your winnings was blue. My second favorite color is red and the same machine had a red graphic that also paid you ten times your winnings. This was the machine I felt I had to play.

As I sat down the gentleman next to me said he had just gotten off of that machine. He said he threw away a lot of money and was not getting any returns off of the machine. After over an hour on the machine he decided to move to the next machine. I told him I never so much as even hit a spin button on a slot machine in my life. I put twenty dollars into the dollar machine and bet the maximum.

After about five spins I decided to cash out my remaining five dollars. I put the coins the machine spat out into a cup. I was getting ready to find another machine that attracted me. Suddenly, a feeling came over me. It gave me the idea to put three last coins in this same machine.

The next thing I remember is hearing all these bells and seeing my machine light up at the top and the bottom. I heard the gentleman next to me say 'I don't believe that'. I just sat there staring at my machine. Two females about my age came out of nowhere and stared at my machine also. I was still trying to figure out how much I had won. It was something like 10 x 10 x $250. Believe it or not I am a great mathematician, but suddenly I cannot add two plus two.

'Okay, take a breath and think', I tell myself. Ten times ten is one hundred. One hundred time two hundred and fifty is $2500. Oh! my that is a lot of money. Then one of the young ladies says to me

'You just won $25,000 dollars'. So here I sit with my cup with two dollars in it. Staring at my machine in total disbelief. Amazed when I think of all of the times I tried to come to this casino. Amazed that I was drawn to this machine. Amazed that I decided to try it one last time. One thing I am not amazed about is the fact that money sure can buy you new friends.
